With a new season underway and redemption on their minds, the men's futsal team is getting ready to show up and show out. 

Finishing the 2024 regular season with a strong seven and three record, the team claimed first place in the North and set themselves up nicely for provincials. Unfortunately, the Ooks fell short in an exciting gold medal game against the Medicine Hat Rattlers falling 2–4 in last year's ACAC Men's Futsal Championship. 

Head coach of the men's futsal team, Jeff Paulus, hopes that it will be another competitive season with the competition fast approaching. "We feel that we will once again be competitive as we have very good technical players at NAIT", Coach Paulus says explaining the structural side of the sport "made for technicians on the ball". 

With plenty on the line this season, Coach Paulus recognizes the external challenges that lie ahead, "The biggest challenge in ACAC Futsal is the travel and playing on surfaces that are not the ideal size for the game", he states. 

As the ACAC championship will be played at Medicine Hat College this season, Paulus hopes "to carry three new players with one of those returning from the futsal roster last year" to lead the group in a successful venture. "I am always reluctant to single out individual players on our roster as the team is full of very good players who will all play a role", Coach Paulus notes, highlighting the team's impressive depth within the team. 

With redemption on their minds and the ACAC championship in sight, the NAIT Ooks men's futsal team is ready to take on any challenge that comes towards them. The first game will kick off against Northwestern Polytechnic on January 31st.
