As the NAIT Ooks men's basketball team prepares for the upcoming ACAC Championships, the excitement of postseason play is becoming more tangible by the day.
Head coach Adika Peter-McNeilly acknowledges how the team is feeling leading up to this weekend. "It's going to be a challenge as we play against a tough Lethbridge team that beat us in November, but our guys are ready for the task and time to get some revenge", Coach Peter-McNeilly stated.
That approach has shaped the Ooks' preparation heading into one of the defining weekends of their season. The group has leaned into a culture based mindset, something Peter-McNeilly has reinforced by drawing on lessons and experiences from his own time as a player. "We pride ourselves in our culture and that's one of the reasons why we've been successful this season", he stated as "everyone knows their role from our coaching staff all the way to all 14 student athletes, and once we were able to establish roles at the beginning of the season."
As the Ooks gear up to compete for an ACAC championship, their youthful energy will be balanced by the poise and structure emphasized by the coaching staff.
Anchored by a disciplined defensive identity, a willingness to grow from setbacks, and a sharp focus on execution, NAIT enters the weekend prepared to contend for the crown.
Now it comes down to one last challenge and the opportunity to show that their hard work, determination, and growth throughout the season can culminate in a championship performance.
